Generic Record Type


With the generic record custom field type the JIRA administrator can enter the important characteristics of the field, and attach a specific record to a JIRA issue (just like account above).

For example, assume you have created a new custom record type in Salesforce called MyType and you would like to view the 'MyType' record associated with an issue in JIRA. First create a custom field in JIRA assigning it a type of "CRM Generic Field".


Then configure Go2Group's CRM Plugin using the Field Definition screen in Go2Group's CRM Plugin setup screen. For example, you could enter the following information:

Finally, notice that in the above configuration, the fields "Parent Record Type" and "Parent Key Field" are empty. The result of this configuration is that the custom field "MyType" is ajax searchable on the create and edit screen in JIRA (i.e., MyType is not a child record of Account similar to Contact and Opportunity).

The "Parent Record Type" and "Parent Key Field" could be filled out, e.g., with Account, and AccountId (respectively). The MyType field is then 'related' to the Account field, and MyType would have to be added to the 'related' list on the first page of the Go2Group's CRM Plugin [setup|Go2Group CRM Plugin - User's Guide#configure] screen.
